Agentic Design of Solvers

About

FrontierOR Challenge is an operations research competition organised by AlphaZ. Instead of hand-tuning a single algorithm, competitors build agentic workflows that design, test and improve solvers for combinatorial optimisation problems.

Each stage offers two tracks, scored separately:

  • Main track. Submit solver code, which we run in a standardised sandbox against the problem instances.
  • Open track. Submit results computed on your own infrastructure, with any solver, proprietary or not.

Timeline

  1. Registration

    Create an account and form a team to take part in the challenge.

  2. Stage 1: Qualification

    Build solvers for the published problem instances and climb the leaderboard.

    Starts 1 November 2026

  3. Stage 2: Final

    New problem formulations are announced and your agents adapt to them within a fixed window.
