About

The FrontierOR Challenge is an operations research competition organised by FrontierOR, MIT and Alpha Z. Instead of hand-tuning a single algorithm, teams build agentic workflows that design, test and improve solvers for optimisation problems. Solvers are scored on private instances over two stages, a qualification and a final, in a Main track run in our sandbox and a Self-hosted track open to any solver.

Alpha Z

Alpha Z builds AI for decision-making. Its system turns decisions with many goals, constraints and pieces of evidence into answers that can be checked: a language model formulates the problem, optimisation algorithms solve it, and a library of past problems improves each new decision. Alpha Z runs this portal.
