Terms of service

Last updated 21 October 2026

1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of the FrontierOR Challenge portal at frontieror-challenge.com (the “Portal”) and your participation in the FrontierOR Challenge (the “Competition”), organised by Alpha Z (“we”, “us”). By creating an account you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Portal.

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least 16 years old to register.
  • You may register with an email address and password, or with a Google account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Each person may hold one account. You are responsible for everything done through it and for keeping your credentials private. Tell us at once if you believe it has been compromised.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

3. Teams

  • You compete as part of a team, which you create or join by invitation. A person may belong to only one team at a time.
  • The team owner manages the team’s name, description, track and membership, and may transfer ownership to another member.
  • Team names and descriptions must not be offensive, misleading or infringe anyone’s rights. Team names appear on the public leaderboard.

4. Competition rules

The Competition runs in stages, each with a Main track and a Self-hosted track scored separately. Stage dates, problems and detailed rules are published on the Portal and form part of these terms. In particular:

  • Each team may make one submission per day (UTC) within a stage, 4 during the testing stage, and each upload is limited to 4 MB. We may change these limits and will announce any change on the Portal.
  • Main track. You submit solver code, which we run in a sandbox with no network access and fixed compute limits. Code must not try to escape the sandbox, access the network, tamper with the evaluation or read instances it has not been given.
  • Self-hosted track. You submit solutions computed on your own infrastructure. We verify the solutions, not the process, and you must not share Self-hosted-track instances with Main-track participants.
  • Private evaluation instances are confidential. Do not attempt to extract, reconstruct or distribute them.
  • Collusion between teams, use of multiple accounts or teams to gain extra submissions, and any other attempt to manipulate scoring is prohibited.

We decide questions about scoring, eligibility and rule interpretation, and may disqualify a submission or team that breaks the rules. Our decisions are final.

5. Your submissions

  • You keep ownership of the code and solutions you submit. You confirm that you have the right to submit them and that they do not infringe anyone else’s rights.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, execute, evaluate and analyse your submissions for the purpose of running and verifying the Competition, and to publish your team’s scores and rankings.
  • We will not publish your submitted code or solutions without your team’s permission. We may describe winning approaches in aggregate or with your consent.
  • Do not upload malware, personal data of third parties, or material you are not allowed to share.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • attack, probe or overload the Portal or the evaluation infrastructure;
  • access other users’ accounts, teams or submissions;
  • scrape the Portal or interfere with its operation;
  • use the Portal for anything unlawful.

7. Our content

Problem descriptions, schemas, public instances and sample code we publish are provided for the purpose of participating in the Competition. Unless a licence is stated alongside them, you may use them only for that purpose.

8. Availability and changes

The Portal is provided “as is”. We try to keep it available during the Competition but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may change, suspend or end the Portal or the Competition, or amend these terms, at any time. Material changes will be announced on the Portal. Continuing to use the Portal after a change means you accept it.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties and are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of opportunity arising from the Portal or the Competition. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Portal at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing frontieror.competition@gmail.com or contact@frontieror.org. We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these terms. Sections 5, 7 and 9 survive termination.

11. Contact

Questions about these terms: frontieror.competition@gmail.com or contact@frontieror.org.
